7 WAYS TO REMAIN POSITIVE WHEN HAVING A BAD DAY

Almost everyone has had a bad day; for one reason or the other, a day that ought to be great can turn out bad. Having a bad day isn’t really the problem, but it’s how you react that actually matters most.
I’m sure you must have heard the saying ‘Carpe diem’ which means seize your day. Remaining positive even during a bad day would help you seize your day, and you can do that in these seven steps.
1. LISTEN TO YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC
One way to have a positive mood even during a bad day can be through music. Listen to some of your favourite music and try to sing along. This would really help give your mood a boost, and studies have found that listening to music can help boost your mood and alleviate depression.
2. TAKE A WALK
Taking a walk during a bad day can be one of the best decisions you can make. Taking a walk can help clear your heads and open your mind; taking a walk can make you see the other side of things that you wouldn’t ordinarily see if you decide to remain stuck in your bad mood.
Research has even found that walking can help stimulate blood flow and the release of endorphins, the feel-good hormone.
3. DECIDE NOT TO BE ANGRY
You can actually take a hold of your emotions if you want to, but most times we let our emotions get the better of us. Decide not to get angry, choose not to get worked up over that situation and choose to be positive even when your senses are telling you not to.
This is important because, the moment you lose your calm then you’ve lost control of the situation.
4. THINK ABOUT THE POSITIVE THINGS
During a bad day, you can remain positive by thinking of the positive things going on in your life. Be grateful for those good things that make you happy and decide to think about them during that bad moment that wants to ruin your day. Being grateful for the good things going on in your life would help ease anxiety.
5. DON’T THINK ABOUT THE SITUATION
When something is trying to choke your day, get your mind off the situation; this might be difficult but it’s possible. The more you think about that situation, the more you become worked up. So, choose not to get worried and choose not to think about the situation.
6. DO SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE
This might sound odd, but it can actually change your day in the twinkle of an eye. Give to someone who needs help and try to help someone out of a bad day. This selfless act can actually turn your bad day into a great one in an instant.
7. BE PREPARED
Like the boys scout motto ‘be prepared’. Train your mind to handle situations better by reading articles like this and by reading motivational books. Don’t get worked up because you made a mistake; see your mistake as an opportunity to learn and improve. A great quote by George Bernard Shaw said, “A life spent making mistakes is not only more honourable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.”
Carpe diem! Don’t let a bad moment ruin your day — seize your day.
